Illusive Networks Broadens Cyber Protection to IoT Attack Surfaces

Groundbreaking cyber defense leader expands deception families to include high-risk IoT devices, enabling early attack detection and informed and rapid response

NEW YORK and TEL AVIV, Israel — November 19, 2019 — Illusive Networks®, the leader in deception-based cyber defense solutions, today announced new capabilities in the Illusive Platform that protect IoT (Internet of Things) devices. Enterprises can now easily deploy IoT Emulations, designed to mimic IoT devices connected to the internet, and which often lack effective security or monitoring capabilities for cyber threats.

Forecasts estimate that anywhere from 40 to 75 billion IoT devices will connect to the internet by 2025. The challenges of effectively patching or monitoring IoT devices, along with their sheer diversity, creates a wave of attractive network landing points for attackers to carry out reconnaissance, surveillance, and data theft undetected.

Illusive IoT Emulations – customized emulations capable of mimicking any IoT device running on any IoT protocol – poison an organization’s attack surface by flooding its network with a scalable web of deceptive IoT devices that appear real to potential attackers. The deceptive emulations are indistinguishable from genuine IoT devices, and fool attackers into interacting with them and revealing their presence. The emulations also send a high-fidelity incident record to defenders immediately upon attacker interaction, with full and detailed forensics, so organizations can monitor, block, and collect intelligence about IoT threats in real time.

Illusive IoT forensics supply detailed information about attack methods, lateral movement, and affected systems, which can then be leveraged by third-party incident response systems to isolate or quarantine the threat.

“With the explosion of billions of IoT devices already affecting enterprise networks – and hundreds of millions still expected over the next few years – it’s critical for security teams to better protect these unique endpoints,” said Ofer Israeli, CEO and founder of Illusive Networks. “From today, organizations can trust Illusive IoT emulations for early attack detection and rapid informed response, in effect paralyzing and disabling attackers.”

About Illusive Networks

Illusive Networks uses next-generation deception technology to stop cyber-attacks by detecting and disarming attackers, destroying their decision-making processes, and depriving them of the means to laterally move towards attack targets. Illusive’s inescapable deceptions eliminate high-risk pathways to critical systems, force attackers to reveal themselves early in the threat lifecycle and capture real-time forensics that accelerate incident response. Built on agentless, AI-driven automation and requiring very little security team support, Illusive immediately shifts the advantage to defenders, freeing precious resources from the complicated and data-heavy approaches that overload them today.
